Sports in the Oratory

In these days of conviviality we play many sports, like cricket, rugby, squash, football, tennis, etc.

Cricket is a very English game that is similar to baseball -  mostly played in countries which are part of the British Commonwealth. There are lots of rules and they are so complicated to understand so we don’t follow all the rules.

Rugby is not a local sport but is mostly played in Britain and France.  Rugby also has very complicated rules. For most people American football is a bad copy of rugby like baseball is a bad copy of cricket.

Squash is a racket sport which is like fronton but very small.

Football we won’t explain to you because we know that you should know the rules but you must know that there are lots of football pitches.

The Oratory has excellent sporting facilities, including a new sports centre. Here we have all types of tennis courts: clay courts, grass courts, synthetic courts and hard courts, a gym and a swimming pool.
